04.16.16 Whimsy

So I have a friend who owns a bakery, and in addition to making beautiful cakes she also hosts birthday parties at her bakery ( www.cakeapotamus.com/ if you must know ). And sometimes, fancy characters come to the birthday parties at her bakery. So a little girl requested that Rey and some other Star Wars folks come to her party, and despite the 2 hour drive I just couldn't say no. I love when girls are interested in meeting Rey or Leia, I was always a bit outcast for liking Star Wars when I was young so it's nice to see that changing and girls embracing a great galaxy of characters and adventures. So, needless to say, I had a great time (including getting soaked in bubble soap lol... the party girl wanted the boys and girls to play together and not lightsaber fight each other, so she suggested blowing bubbles instead... So we blew bubbles as lightsaber training! What maturity for a 6 year old!)

Oh, and did I mention that my friend owns a bakery? And in addition to hosting birthday parties at her bakery, she also makes beautiful cakes! And sometimes, people reschedule their cakes at the last minute... and sometimes, a Star Wars birthday and a cake rescheduling happen on the same day, and I wind up with an amazing two tier cake!!

And the best thing about the whole thing? My friend has no idea that today was the anniversary of my project-27 photography thing, or that I started the project as a tribute to Phoenixtear on what would have been his 27th birthday (both occasions that a cake is perfect for). Or that after a crazy chaotic past month, getting to play Star Wars on such a special day to me meant so much (I was a bit worried after being injured that, well, my face wouldn't be up to Star Wars standards...)  She always says in her bakery that she makes "whimsy" happen, and happy coincidences like this totally prove it!!
