Submitted for dA's Futurography contest
I decided I wanted to tell a bit of a fashion story with this one, and go with something different than the whole 'future=metallic' look... So I did a semi-firefly inspired/post-apocalyptic take on the future of fashion and photography, since after all, we all know the world is gonna end on Dec 21 2012
! (I've been watching loads of mayan and archeology pbs shows lately, can you tell?)
So this future woman has grabbed every clothing item she needs, for each season, and carries it on her at all times so she can be nomadic, searching the ruined earth for food and people and whatever else...
But I also wanted to incorporate an alternative photographic style here, so in addition to pushing the exposure as far as I could, I also covered the lens with wax paper torn out over the opening, and plastic wrap over that... Gotta keep that lens safe and preserved, right?!
The logic behind the kitchen wraps was more to get a frosted over and 'broken' kind of look, without having to revert to photoshop for the look.
And naturally, this post-civilization woman is all about the self-portraits!
Of course the down side of that was that the plastic film kinda bubbled around my face, and not being behind the camera I couldn't see that... But the photos without any film over the lens just weren't very 'futuristic' looking haha...
